Psychological Support Unit

Medically Assisted Reproduction treatments bring new hope to couples with infertility problems. However, because these changes represent a threat to the couple's life plan, they can be difficult situations to deal with.

Infertility is considered a stressful life event. Diagnosis and treatment can have consequences for different areas of life and can often lead to emotional maladjustment with anxious or depressive symptoms.

Personal or family desires are hampered, revealing a significant emotional burden that can translate into anguish, fear, frustration, sadness, etc.

The Psychological Support Unit aims to provide a comprehensive approach, addressing the emotional needs that are revealed.

It is important to appreciate the impact of the diagnosis, the fears, the expectations at different stages of the process, and there may be more critical moments when this support and counseling becomes more necessary. In this way, our goal is to help our patients get through the whole infertility process with maximum quality and a good emotional balance. IERA Lisboa provides those who need it with a simple psychological assessment questionnaire that can show the need for a first psychology consultation for those who score significantly on anxiety.

Any of our patients can request psychological support at any time during the treatment process. If you wish, you can also fill in the following online form.
