Infertility is a problem that affects many couples. The causes of this condition are very varied, but in many cases Assisted Reproduction techniques, and in particular In Vitro Fertilization (IVF/ICSI), can solve this problem.

The Instituto Extremeño de Reproducción Asistida (IERA) was created in Spain to receive these couples using the most advanced medical and biological techniques and the most personalized treatments.
As well as providing assistance, IERA carries out professional activities that seek to broaden the scope of our work and contribute to the continuous progress made in Assisted Reproduction techniques.

IERA was a pioneer in “in vitro” fertilization techniques in Extremadura and it is our intention to continue leading the way in the biomedical field, both in terms of successful results and patient satisfaction.

IERA is a pioneer in assisted reproduction in Extremadura:

  • First pregnancy by “in vitro” fertilization
  • First pregnancy by egg donation
  • First pregnancy with semen from a testicular biopsy
  • First pregnancy with cryopreserved embryos
  • First pregnancy by vitrification
  • First pregnancy by PGT

At IERA we personalize each case and depending on the factor causing the infertility, age and treatments used, we can tell you the approximate percentage of success you can achieve when it comes to having your wish fulfilled.

IERA was a pioneer in all Assisted Reproduction techniques in Extremadura, Spain. In 2000 our first baby was born through IVF and in 2001 the first babies were born thanks to frozen embryos and donated oocytes. In 2002, the first baby was born using the testicular biopsy method. Regardless of the procedure, the ultimate success of any technique will always be that a healthy baby arrives at each home and in this sense we aim to reduce to a minimum the number of multiple pregnancies that increase the risk for both the mother and the newborn.
